Science - Dani Williams

williamsd@truman.k12.mn.us

My name is Mrs. Dani Williams, and I am a Truman Public School graduate, class of 2008. I completed a year at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, wanting to be a teacher. Since Bethany did not have secondary education, I transferred to Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall Minnesota.

I completed my Bachelors degree in Exercise Science, since I decided my junior year of college I did not want to teach, funny how things have changed.

Once I graduated college, I lived in Tyler Minnesota, working as a CNA and a waitress in multiple locations, not at the same time obviously. My grandmother had suggested that I apply for the vacated Activities Director position at the Truman Nursing home. So I applied, and I got the position.

I moved back home in 2014, and while I was living at home, I was planning my wedding for August of 2015. I worked at the nursing home from 2014 to 2017 taking a year off to be a literacy tutor here at the school, which got me thinking about teaching again. I went back to the nursing home in 2018 until 2020.

I was originally going to be a para here when a serendipitous moment offered a new opportunity. At the fall sports kick off my husband, TJ who coaches volleyball, was talking to Lisa Shellum who mentioned that they were looking for a science teacher. TJ mentioned that I like science and I really like rocks. She called me the next day to offer me a job teaching. So far I think it is going well, but that is for the students to tell.

Expectations:

When you miss school, whether for quarantine or other reasons, it is your responsibility to check in to see what you have missed, classwork wise.

I am posting assignments into the google classroom, so if you have not accepted the invitation for that, you need to do so immediately.

Directions will be posted with the assignment, and if there are any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. I am always available by email.

For trimester 2 I have prep 1st hour, if you have questions during school, and I’m available during lunch as well.

If you are able to stay after school to get help on assignments, that can be arranged as well.

Looking forward to the rest of the school year!
