Truman Public School is located in southern Minnesota. The community has a population of around 1000 residents. The community is very proud of the district while although small has been able to sustain and grow. Our teaching staff travel within a 60 mile radius one way to teach in our school because of the positive climate and team approach to educating our students. They have found our school to be a district of choice while working with administration and a staff that prioritizes students, families and has strong educational priorities. The district has approximately 240 students from pre-school to 12th grade. The class sizes are around 15-20 students. There are many students open enrolled to the district for various reasons. TPS boasts its own special education department and is not required to be a member of a special education cooperative. This is attractive to families who want to know all of their children’s teachers and keep everything in one district. The district partners with the Mankato Clinic for OT/PT and neighboring cooperatives for specialty positions such as speech and school psychologist. The district also partners with the South Central Service Cooperative for services. Our teachers are highly respected by the students, community and the board of education.
