Greetings.  My name is Mark Nass and I am excited to be teaching art at Truman Public Schools.

I grew up in Milwaukee WI and attended college at Olivet Nazarene University in Kankakee Ill (just southwest of Chicago).  There I achieved degrees in 2 dimensional art, 3 dimensional art, and education.  I supplemented my studies with minor degrees in business education and German.

I received my masters degree in year 2000 from Winona State University and a degree in school administration from Saint Mary's University in 2014.

I first taught business education in Marathon City, WI for 1 year; but always knew my passion was art.   I moved to Chatfield MN where I taught both art and business until the art program had grown large enough to accommodate 2 full time art instructors.  In 2001 I began teaching art in Windom MN where I currently reside.  After many years in education, and becoming Principal in Truman, I retired in 2018.   However, the need for an art instructor brought me back into the classroom where I am thrilled to be working closely with students once again to help them achieve their potential in art creativity.

During my time of teaching, I took on many extra duties such as Prom Advisor, Student Council, Homecoming.  As time allows, I will be posting some pictures of past Proms and Homecomings that I helped students to create.   Also, watch for a gallery of current student art works.

When I am not in  my classroom, I enjoy motorcycle riding, traveling, puzzles, and playing the organ.

BIG NEWS:

This is certainly a trying and uncertain time for all of us and I will be doing my best to continue teaching the art concepts and materials that are important for our students to learn.
