Mark Nass  —  Art    |    507-776-2111 x3971

Hello and welcome to my web page.  My name is Mark Nass and I am excited to be teaching art at Truman Public Schools.

I grew up in Milwaukee WI and attended college at Olivet Nazarene University in Kankakee Ill (just southwest of Chicago).  There I achieved degrees in 2 dimensional art, 3 dimensional art, and general education.  I supplemented my studies with minor degrees in Business Education and German.

I received my masters degree in year 2000 from Winona State University and a degree in school administration from Saint Mary's University in 2014.

I first taught Business Education in Marathon City, WI for 1 year; but always knew my passion was art.   I moved to Chatfield MN where I taught both art and business until the art program had grown large enough to accommodate 2 full time art instructors.  In 2001 I began teaching art in Windom MN where I currently reside.  After many years in education, and becoming Principal in Truman, I retired in 2018.   However, the need for an art instructor brought me back into the classroom where I am thrilled to be working closely with students once again to help them achieve their highest potential in art creativity.  Be sure and check out the galleries below to see works from many of our talented students.

During my time of teaching, I took on many extra duties such as Prom Advisor, Student Council, Homecoming.

When I am not in  my classroom, I enjoy motorcycle riding, traveling, jigsaw puzzles, singing, and playing the organ.

UPDATES for 2020 / 2021 School Year:

1.  Students in my class are required to wear mask, social distance, and keep their work areas clean.

2.  When "distance learning", I am meeting with my high school students each day through Google Meets.  Assignments for them are being handled through Google Classroom.  Elementary students will receive bags of materials for projects and a video of "how to" will be posted here on my web page.

I look forward to that day when we can all come back together and continue in a more normal fashion.  Until then, please follow health and safety guidelines so we can all get through this and meet once again.
